Blues forward Cameron Suafoa, who has cancer, has cheered on his team as they defeated the Chiefs.
Video footage showed Suafoa celebrating as replacement lock Josh Beehre scored in the 84th minute.
The Blues will play the Crusaders on Friday for a spot in the final.
The Blues defeated the Chiefs on Saturday in Waikato to advance to the Super Rugby semifinals, with lock Josh Beehre scoring in overtime.
Video footage of Suafoa watching the game from the hospital was shared on social media by his partner, Britt Hastings-Kutty.
Suafoa can be seen cheering as replacement lock Josh Beehre scored in the 84th minute to win the game.
