Police were called Church St in Parramatta shortly after 5pm on Sunday following reports of a shooting.

Officers located two men suffering multiple gunshot wounds in a car at the scene.

Another two men, who were uninjured, were also located inside the vehicle.

The two injured men were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and will be taken to hospital for further treatment.

A short time later, police were called to Sherwood St in Merrylands where they located a car and nearby tree well alight.
