Let's limit the greed for power only to the election period

President Ranil Wickremesinghe said in the Parliament that let's limit the greed for political power only to the election period.

The President said that the people should be careful about the fairy tales that the politicians create in front of the people in order to gain power and noted that such things pave the way for dragging the country back to bankruptcy.

Addressing Parliament on the last day of the budget debate, President Ranil Wickramasinghe also said:

  The Financial Fund officially announced that it approved the second installment of the loan for rebuilding the country.

I am extremely happy to be able to lead the challenging journey. None of the heroes and leaders addressing the parliament had the courage to come forward. All I had was determination and plans. But the people made sacrifices even though it was difficult.

Some of the difficult decisions that I took were endured by the people, albeit with difficulty. It is now possible to save the country from bankruptcy as a result of the sufferings suffered by all. All of them are proud participants in the country's journey. We were able to get rid of that bankruptcy label in less time than it took many countries in the world to become bankrupt.
