A line of thunderstorms is bringing the threat of flash flooding to northern Tasmania tonight, as residents are urged to prepare for worsening conditions.

Tasmania SES issued a flood advice for Railton shortly before 5.30pm, with another warning issued separately by the Bureau of Meteorology for the North Esk catchment.
Earlier Sunday afternoon, motorists reported dangerous conditions along roads and highways between Burnie and Penguin.
Tasmanian Weather Watch issued a warning Sunday night for heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding for the north west and central north including Launceston.
“A cold front over Tasmania will move away to the east this evening, producing rain and thunderstorms for the north of the state,” TWW posted.
“At 6.30pm a line of moderate to locally heavy rainfall was located on weather radar to the west of Devonport, Sheffield and Mole Creek.
This rain band and thunderstorms is expected to continue moving towards the east over the next several hours into this evening.
“Thunderstorms … may become severe warned into this evening with the risk of heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding.”
Tasmania SES earlier issued a flood advice for Railton, saying flooding in nearby streams and rivers was likely.
“Some low-lying properties may become isolated by flood waters,” they warned.
