Mother of 3 children run-over by the Allahabad-Jaipur Superfast Express

AGRA: A mother of 3 children lost her life in a futile attempt to catch the thief who snatched away her purse. She was run-over by the Allahabad-Jaipur Superfast Express in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. This tragic incident took place on the outer track of Rura station, North Central Railway Zone, nearly 44 kms away from Kanpur Central station. According to a source of the government railway police, when the train was about to reach Rura intermediate station at around 3am, an unidentified man snatched the purse of Rushi Abadi who was travelling to Agra along with her three children. "The woman shouted for help and ran behind the thief. During her chase to nab the man, the 45-year-old woman fell under the wheels of trains, as she reached at the entrance door of sleeper coach. The train was slow but moving when the thief jumped off from train, which prompted the victim to catch him before he could disembark the train," said the source. After the incident, her three children of ages 11, 9 and 6 were alighted at Tundla station and sent back to the Kanpur Central station.

undla station officer Rukumpal Singh said, "When the train reached Tundla station at around 6am, we roped in women constables and escorted the three children back to Kanpur Central station, where their relatives were waiting for them. An FIR in the matter will also be lodged by Station Officer of Kanpur Central as the incident took place in his jurisdiction." He also said, "Barring the elder son - Rehan, the other two children are not aware of their mother's death, and neither have we told them. We are told that the victim was travelling to Agra."
