Police raid dance bar at Grant Road, arrest 9 women, 11 others

MUMBAI: Even as dance bars are in the process of complying with guidelines to restart operations in the city, the police raided Sandeep Bar at Gowalia Tank in Grant Road on Saturday night and arrested 20 people, including nine dancers, for allegedly indulging in obscene acts.

The women were found hiding in a secret cavity at the establishment.

The police arrested the hotel manager, Mahentesh Bennur, and are looking for the owner, a 70-year-old woman.

The police claimed that the women, who were scantily dressed, were indulging in obscene acts. "We found a false cavity behind the stairs. It led to a 600sqft room with sofas and tables where customers were entertained," said a police officer.
